A couple of weeks ago we went to drive around the city of Loveland, here in Colorado. While going around the streets, we found this statue with the placard at the base.
The name of the statue and the feelings expressed by it were curious enough to stop for a minute and take a longer look.
What surprised me the most was the message in the placard, which seemed like very “modern” for a statue in a street. It seems we tend to be used to think statues are old things that reflect feelings from another time, so they are in the area of history, rather than actuality.
This one, at the other hand, was created in 2005, which makes it a form of art reflecting modern society instead. And by the situations lived in the last couple of years myself, I can’t avoid a feeling of connection with the statue, its expression, and the message sent by the placard.
It was like a weird thing to sort of find a reflection of my own feelings in a statue in a different city; especially in a city which happens to be named after the feelings of happiness!!
